Karate Summer Kata Competition.2006
On the 22nd of June members of the Laytown and Donacarney Children's Karate clubs took part in the clubs second annual Summer Kata competition.Kata are formal exercises of karate. They are sequence movements which are learned by the karateka (practitioner of Karate) in order to develop rhythm and coordination of technique.
Team Kata consists of 3 karateka who must perform the kata together in
perfect timing and technique to score maximum points out of ten.
Results
Blue Belt and above team event.
1st Place, Ben Hageman,Thomas Lynch and David O Byrne 7.4pts
2nd Place, Antony Warren, Connor O Byrne and Daragh Mc Gee 6.3 pts
3rd place, Conor Beenham, Dillon O Reilly and Marc Daly 6.2 pts
Runners up with a close 6.1 pts Katie Gibbons, Christine Warren and Niamb Mc Cabe.

East Coast Karate Clubs Summer Competition 2005
The East Coast Karate Clubs Summer Competition took place on the 10th of June in the Laytown Parochial hall. Members of the Laytown and Donacarney Karate club took part. All members are between the ages of 7-13 years.
First up was the team Kata Event.
The results are as follows :
     1st Place team M.Courtney, D. Courtney and P.Clarke.
    In joint 2nd place Team C.Doyle, R. Cunningham and  K mc Illwee and team N.Mc Cabe, G Morgan and L.O Donnaghue.
    
   Joint 3rd place Teams were D.mc Gee, C O Byrne and D.O Byrne and team Robert Browne Thomas Lynch and Ben Hageman.
Individual Kata trophy winners, yellow-Orange belt section.
1 st place Robert Browne ,2nd N.Mc Cabe, 3rd K Mc Illwee. Joint 4th R.Cunningham and Connor Beenham.

Meanwhile training continues Every Friday night from 7-8 pm in the Parochial hall Laytown fee per class €5.00 .Saturday afternoon 12-1pm Donacarney Old School Hall
